LIONEL 1955 2331 VIRGINIAN FM - Very Nice Condition!~

This auction is for an all original Post-War Lionel 2331
black & yellow VIRGINIAN FM from 1955! This unit is in nice condition! This is one of the more difficult Lionel FM’s too find in nice condition…..mostly due to the fact that the black and yellow paint show wear and tear, pretty easily. However, this FM is in very clean condition.
The matte-black and yellow paint still has its nice original factory patina to it! There is a scratch on the cab roof(see pics). The scratch isn’t very deep and could’ve been painted over from the factory…..? If it’s a touch-up, it’s a nice match of black paint that’s 66 years old.
The gold rubber-stamped VIRGINIAN lettering is very crisp on one side and a little more worn on the other….(please see the pics). The handrails are very clean!…..I didn’t really see any rust or notable corrosion on any of them….which is rare, by itself! The battery box is also very clean and free of any corrosion. The unit operates very nicely in Forward-Neutral-Reverse just as it should.
Overall, this is a nice, clean respectable black and yellow VIRGINIAN FM, at a fraction of the price. The fm chassis on an FM ZLIME THIS IS WORTH 0, by itself. This would make a nice display piece for someone just starting out in the hobby or a great running piece for a layout! So, if your looking for a nice 2331 black & yellow VIRGINIAN FM for your collection, then maybe this piece is for you!
