Oliver Wendell Jones & Banana Jr. 6000 Button Set
This listing is for two 1.25" pinback buttons: one with reproduction artwork of Oliver Wendell Jones and his Star Trek lunchbox, and one of his beloved if rebellious Banana Jr. 6000 computer.
Oliver Wendell Jones is a schoolmate of Milo and Binkley, introduced in 1983. He is also a young computer hacker and gifted scientist, having invented a miracle hair-growth formula, among other things. He once tried to bring an end to the Cold War by introducing onto the front page of Pravda the headline, "Gorbachev Urges Disarmament: Total! Unilateral!", but faulty translation caused the headline to read, "Gorbachev Sings Tractors: Turnip! Buttocks!"  He has a fairly extensive criminal record as a result of his numerous computer pranks.
Oliver's mother has dressed her son to resemble Michael Jackson, much to Oliver's chagrin.
His father never approved of his focus on computers and once demanded he take up a more "normal activity" like football. This was not received well by him.
The Banana Jr. 6000 was Oliver Wendell Jones' sentient personal computer, first introduced to the strip in 1984. It was a parody of the Macintosh computer, which had been released earlier that year.
The 6000 inexplicably came with legs and could walk, talk and contemplate its own existence, but could not stray further than the length of its electrical cord.
The computer was Oliver's hacking sidekick (only confiscated by the FBI twice) until mid-1985, when Oliver declared it obsolete due mostly to the bankruptcy of the Banana Computer Company (which only sold two units, including Oliver's).
These buttons are appropriate for ANY occasion but especially late-night hacking marathons, while peeling an apple, while practicing your dance moves, and of course political rallies.
