Popeye & Olive Oyl Nesting Pins
This is a new set of two pins still on the original retail hang tag. These came from a gift shop at Universal Studios Hollywood sometime around 2004. The pins are made of dark metal with a cloisonné enamel image. Each pin has a black rubber
(or rubber-like plastic)
cap the pinback post.
The pins nest together to make one larger pin. The combined pin forms a pink and white valentine heart with an image of classic cartoon character Popeye giving Olive Oyl a bouquet of flowers in the best vase he could find - an empty spinach can.
Individually the pins measure 1½" tall. Together they are 1½" across. On the back of each pin is a molded image of several Popeye characters and an undated copyright mark for King Features Syndicate / Hearst Holdings.
These pins have never been used. They are in excellent condition with only
very
mild surface wear that you need a magnifying glass to see. The plastic hang tag is in mint condition with the original retail price sticker still attached to the back side.
