Popular singer and music icon’s only sibling dead at 64

Tyka Nelson, the popular singer and Prince‘s only sibling, died on Monday, according to Variety. There was no cause of death given by Prince’s estate. She was 64.
Tyka Nelson is survived by two sons, President and Sir, and five grandchildren.
“Born 1960, the daughter of Mattie and John Nelson, she was best known as Prince’s sister and worked to keep his legacy alive with his fans attending fan and industry events,” her son, President Nelson, said in a statement. “Services will be private, and in lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you take care of one another.”
Nelson released four albums between 1988 and 2011. “Marc Anthony’s Tune” was her biggest hit, reaching No. 33 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart after 11 weeks.
She was scheduled to have her farewell concert at the Dakota in Minnesota this past June, but had to cancel because of illness. Nelson stated she was working on a memoir.
